“Fantastic colourful music!”
(review “Rheinpfalz”, 05.14.2013)
As part of his musical and historical research Markus Korselt published four
symphonies of the german composer Baron Sigismund von Rumling (1739 -
1825). 2013 was the first-time performance under his direction with the Stuttgart
Chamber Orchestra (patron: Prime Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer). In
cooperation with the broadcasting union of Saarland the symphonies were also
recorded on CD.
Rumling was a highly respected and quite famous composer at his time. W. A.
Mozart mentioned proudly a compliment of Rumling to him in a letter dated 2.
October 1777 to his father.

Symphony in C major
"Hunting Symphony"
Allegro, Andante, Allegro Hallali
Instrumentation: 2 Horns, Strings
Duration: 12 minutes
Rumlings first symphony, the symphony in C major, was composed for a hunting
scene ("Hallali") with distinctive parts for the horn players. A historically valuable

experimentation of early “Mannheim School” becomes evident.
Symphony in E major
"Christmas Symphony"

Instrumentation: 2 oboes, 2 horns, strings
Duration: 16 minutes
The Symphony in E major with its harmonic ingenuity, wonderfull singing themes
and expressive dynamics is a charming work of “Sturm und Drang” - period.
Symphony in E-flat major
Allegro maestoso, Rondeau-Andante, Allegro
Instrumentation: 2 oboes, 2 horns, strings
Duration: 13 minutes
The Symphony in E flat major begins with a huge "Mannheim roll" and impresses
with a charming Rondo and the fiery finale.
Symphony in D major
"Symphony of Homburg"
Allegro, Andante, Allegro
Instrumentation: 2 oboes, 2 horns, 1 trumpet, timpani, strings

The Symphony in D major is designed for large symphonic sound and convinces
with its exchange of melodic and virtuos parts.
